I met PH when we made the film ‘Drain the Titanic’ for National Geographic. We immediately struck up a friendship, his contribution to the film was excellent and we remained in touch culminating in an invitation to his lovely house in Connecticut. He was warm, charming and incredibly knowledgeable about the Titanic. We kept in touch and I was looking forward to the next time we could meet and discuss matters oceanic. He was a true explorer and unlike others who talked about doing their exploits he actually went ahead and did them! A loss to the world of oceanography, a loss to the world full stop.
